Okotoks Transit Donation

In 2025, the Okotoks Lions Club made a remarkable one-time donation of $250,000 to support the Town of Okotoks in acquiring two new accessible vans for its on-demand transit fleet.

This generous contribution significantly enhances local transportation services, providing greater independence and mobility for residents who rely on accessible transit. The addition of these vans will make a meaningful and lasting difference for individuals and families throughout the community

Service Dogs

In 2023, the Club proudly supported a local family by contributing $12,000 toward the purchase and training of a service dog to assist their child with autism. This meaningful donation helped provide greater independence, safety, and daily support, making a lasting difference in the child’s life and the well-being of their family.

Additionally, the club supports The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, a national charitable program that empowers Canadians living with disabilities by providing highly trained Dog Guides at no cost to qualified recipients. These specially trained dogs assist individuals in seven distinct programs—such as Service, Canine Vision, Hearing, Seizure Response, Autism Assistance, and Diabetes Alert.

Nourishing our Neighbours

We believe no one in Okotoks should go hungry. Our support for the Okotoks Food Bank helps ensure local families have access to essential provisions. Additionally, the Children's Lunch Program provides nutritious meals to students, ensuring they have the energy to learn and thrive. These initiatives collectively support the entire Okotoks community, directly impacting the lives of our neighbours in need.

Investing in Future Generations

The future of Okotoks lies in its youth. We proudly offer High School Scholarships to deserving students, helping them pursue higher education and achieve their dreams.

Through donating to Kidsport, we help ensure that all children, regardless of financial barriers, have the opportunity to participate in organized sports, fostering health, teamwork, and confidence. These programs build a stronger, more vibrant community for tomorrow.

CLERC

The Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centre (CLERC) is a service initiative supported by Lions Clubs across Canada that collects, sorts, and redistributes used eyeglasses and hearing aids to improve vision and quality of life for people in need. CLERC partners with local Lions clubs and community organizations to provide a centralized facility where donated eyewear is professionally cleaned, graded, and prepared for reuse in underserved communities both domestically and abroad. This sustainable and compassionate program extends the impact of Lions’ sight-related service efforts by ensuring that donated glasses help as many people as possible.

Vulcan Foodbank

Many of our Lions meet on Saturday morning to help load the Vulcan Foodbank truck with donations from Okotoks Costco.  Many hands make light work and this means Vulcan's Foodbank doesn't need to bring people to help load.  Not only is the foodbank aided, but spoiled produce is brought to Vulcan to feed pigs to reduce what heads to the landfill

If you have a cause that is fundraising or are in need of dedicated volunteers, we would love to hear from you. The Okotoks Lions Club is committed to supporting meaningful community initiatives and lending a helping hand where it’s needed most. Please reach out to us to discuss how we can work together to make a positive impact.
